Lisa Mejia is a Belly dancer, costume designer and henna artist based out of San Jose CA. She has been performing throughout the SF Bay Area for the past 9 years. Her favorite dance style is Tribal Fusion Bellydance, which combines elements of bellydance, East Indian Odissi, Flamenco, and modern dance together. She has also studied Egyptian folkloric dance, American cabaret-style belly dance, and Turkish Romani dance. She makes most of her own belly dance costumes, as well as costuming for RenFaires and Steampunk events. She learned how to do henna from a friend, who was visiting from India. She enjoys doing the traditional floral type patterns that are prevalent in Indian henna designs, but also likes to experiment with other cultural and folkloric designs.
